On March 8, students Joey F. and Sam C. joined admin team members Ron Berger and Rachel Boyack to meet with legislators at the Capitol. The group first met with MN Association of Charter School Executive Director Eugene Piccolo to review the talking points of the legislative priorities for this session. Then, the team met with Representative Paul Rosenthal and Senator Melisa Franzen to encourage them to support the bills that will help the mission of charter schools across the state. The students also explained how Lionsgate Academy has helped them in their confidence, independence and academic and life skill acquisition.
High School Students in Ms. B’s Career Exploration class went to the MN Zoo on March 15th to attend Zoo Careers Day. Students were able to explore a wide variety of animal-related careers by having the opportunity to talk with Zoo professionals about their job and by participating in animal-related skill building activities throughout the day. Highlights included attending a bird show and interviewing a bird trainer, seeing an aquarist at work and looking at animal x-rays to detect health problems.
