PARENT INVOLVEMENT/VOLUNTEER

Do you have a particular skill, craft or area of expertise that you would like to share with the Lionsgate community? We would love to have you come in and share your talents with us. Here are examples of how parents and community members have helped out in the past (feel free to be creative, we are open to new ideas):

  • Come in and be a guest-speaker (email staff member within your interest area)
  • Help to plan and organize a fund-raising event ()
  • Serve on school board as a parent/community representative
  • Serve on various committees (Governance, Academic Advisory, PAC/SEAC)
  • Come in and speak about your job to transitions classes ()
  • Just ask us how you can help

Volunteers play an important role in the success of Lionsgate Academy. While the school does not require parents or other family members to volunteer their talents to the school, other charter schools typically receive  an average of approximately four hours per month of volunteer help for each student enrolled.

Volunteering may occur in many areas; lunch, committees, field trips and social events. If you would be interested in speaking about your job or getting your employer involved (work site tours, employment opportunities, informational interviews, job shadowing) for employment and career exploration/readiness classes at Lionsgate please contact .

Parents are also encouraged to create social opportunities outside of school for their student together with other parents and students to create friendships and improve student social skills.  Activities may include eating out at a restaurant, going to events around the Twin Cities, visiting museums or other activities that parents want their son or daughter to experience along with their peers.
